Sara Creta

Sara is an Early Stage Researcher at Dublin City University’s School of Communications and Institute for Future Media and Journalism (FuJo) where she is investigating migration, the visual politics of humanitarian communication, digital media and fake news. She has worked in the field with Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders producing and managing dissemination of multimedia content, designing and implementing digital campaigns and communication strategies across different platforms. She has worked in Bangladesh covering the situation of the Rohingya at the border with Myanmar and in Libya to document the humanitarian conditions inside detention centres. In 2016, she spent four months on a search and rescue vessel in the Mediterranean Sea. Between 2013 and 2015, she contributed to the Italian daily La Repubblica to document human rights violations in Morocco. She holds a MA in International cooperation, Protection of Human Rights and Cultural Heritage in Mediterranean sea from Bologna University and a BA in Journalism. During her studies, she spent several months at Universities in Greece, Brazil and Morocco.
