Giuliander Carpes da Silva

Giuliander Carpes is an Early Stage Researcher at Université Toulouse III – Paul Sabatier where he is researching the impact of platforms and infomediaries on journalism. He has worked as a journalist for several of the most important news outletsin Brazil – O Estado de S. Paulo, Terra, UOL, Agência Pública, among others – for the past 12 years. Since 2014, though, he has been increasingly focusing on researching the transformations and challenges the news industry is facing lately. In 2015, he completed a Masters in Media and Business at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. After that, Giuliander returned to Brazil to put in practice the entrepreneurial knowledge gathered during the programme at a startup aimed at initiating insightful dialogue between opposing viewpoints. During the last one and a half year before arriving in France, he was also teaching entrepreneurship and business-related topics for journalism students at two universities in Brazil.
